It has been a while since Cheesekids for Humanity has had an event, and no, not the anything from the 'Off - Series', but an event that involves children, smiles and this time drums.

This past weekend Cheesekids organised for 50 children from two homes to have a day out at the theatre to watch the kids show, The Magic Drum and Other tales at Theatre on the Square, Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton.

We arrived at 11h00 to receive a warm welcome from the wonderful staff at the theatre, to find the children downstairs with our enthusiastic and dedicated Cheesekids. We then went in to watch a show that was interactive and entertaining for the children. Though I believe there could have been a bit more drum action for the audience, the children were happy and it seemed so as too for crocodile and rabbit on stage having a blast to the tune of 'My Humps' by Black Eyed Peas. That being so, the end of the show left bigger smiles on the children's faces than those when they went in, which was utmost important.

Our initiative attracted more interested individuals that were attending the show to add on to our membership numbers. New members that come with renewed energy and much generosity. One kind gentleman added on to the snacks for the children,  much appreciated, and will be staying in touch and make contributions as and when needed. YAY! :-)

An overall successful day, filled with fun and happiness.

As some of the children where not able to make it due to unforseen technicalities, we will have another outing organised for those that missed out. Look out for that.
