Cheese Programmes
Cheesekids prides itself on always finding newer, funer & more meaningful ways for you to give back & get involved in your community. Our Guardians continuously develop events & projects to suit the whims of our members be it an area, person or cause that any of us cares enough about to get others to help out with... Follows, however, are our staple programmes run all year through... All our programmes are made up of single day events, but may take a number of weeks (up to a maximum of 8) to complete.
1. Cheesekids 101: Build & Paint EventsThe Original Cheesekids affair. We build, brick by brick, a home or classroom, or simply come along to put a coat of paint on newly-built or old grimy walls. Physically demanding but loads of fun, these events are extremely fulfilling as you get to witness the difference you make on the very day you make it. In a word - incredible. All you're required to bring is yourself and some friends. Hangovers are optional, but rest assured this activity will sweat it out of you. We do these at least once every two months, usually on a Saturday from 9.00 till 3pm. Look out for these in upcoming events. |

2. Cleaning & Gardening GigsWith cleanliness being next to Godliness, we confer a spit-shine blessing upon a school, orphanage, old-age home, shelter or any other communal service centre. We give the place a good scrub, spring-clean style, and may also wash and iron clothes. If gardening we grunt our way into planting either flowerbeds or vegetable gardens, or slashing overrun grass and weeds to beautify the place. We do these at least once every two months, usually on a Saturday from 9.00 till 3pm. Look out for these in upcoming events.

3. Helping Hands: Collections with Love
The Cheesekids events that you bring things to. Typically these are care packs including blankets, clothes or food. The guardians advise what is required and we bring it, drop it off or tag along to disburse these goodies to the needy amongst us. We hold a monthly Helping Hands event, usually on a Sunday, for the benefit of different beneficiaries; be it orphans, homeless or disaster victims. Look out for these in upcoming events. |

4. Kiddiezone: Picnics, Outings & PlaydaysFor the kiddies in us & lovers of kids, Kiddiezone events are about having fun with, hugging, reading to, listening to, spoiling and just about loving kids that don't usually get such affection. With the highest rates of child-headed households in the world, SA is abrim with children needing your time and attention, if only for a day at a time. We do these at least once every two months, usually on a Saturday from 9.00 till 3pm. Look out for these in upcoming events. |

6. Heritage Tours: History & Culture
We get you and/or high school kids on a bus and tour historical landmarks and sites. "Only through knowing where we've been can we be sure of where we're going" goes the axiom and the Heritage Tours aims to give context to the broader rationale for our existence. In simple English we figure out why we should give a damn anyway... We do this annually around Heritage Day in September 24 for cheesekids and monthly for school children. |

11.Time-OutWe take a lesser-priviledged teen out of their envrionment and into a world they would normally not experience: a night out with celebs, a day with a business executive, lunch with a community leader. The aim is to inspire our young to aspire, and not simply expire in their reality. These are ad hoc events that arise as the opportunity does. If you have ideas for this then please mail [email protected] |
