Cheesekiddin' in 2012

Hello Cheesekids and welcome to another year of Action,

This is a particulalry exciting period for Cheesekids. Over the past 5 years, Cheesekids has gone from a hobby where we go out and do some good, to a social movement facilitating good, and finallly to an engine to help you do good for a cause that moves you, in a manner that suits you. 

Cheesekids is shifting from being a "charity" to an activator of action, an enbaler of social activism. We're going to over the next 18 months focus solely on providing you and your social groups the means to give back, meaninfully and sustainable. Of course, with huge dollops of fun added to boot.

How we're doing this is by firstly corporatising, so that means that the core team is no longer comprissed of volunteers alone but also of full time staff, dedicated to the Cheesekids cause of making community service easy, fun and accessible. We will also be increasing the depth and capacity of our people, to not just better implement but also better track and benchmark the overall impact of our activties.

We have in 2012 firmed up the definition and so too will the infrastrtutre of our programmes; of which we have an expansive list to enable participation from a vast span of members with varying interests.We will thus have fewer "traditional" types of events (now known as Cheesekids 101, which includes building, painting, gardening and refurbishings) but will cater for more participants at these gigs. Parallel to this, we will have increased amounts of alternative programmes that require different skills, resources and energy of participants. 

Over the years we have learned the value of continued communications; and we are strengethning our capacity to be able to
regular, informative and relevant updates on our progrmmes and projects, as well as stories of goowill, community service and social change that inspire us.

The demand for a Cheesekids presence in cities and towns outside of Johannesburg in particular and the other majoy cities of Cape Town and Durban has been overwhelming. This year, we devise toolkits to help spread the Cheesekids expeirence easily and effectively. 

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Cheesekids is going to provide a range of corporate services geared around activating employee volunteer programme, as well as a range of merchandise options to afford us the opprotunity of being financially sustainable, whilst affording you the opportunity to take the Cheesekids brand to work with you, as well as wear it in your weekly life, whereas we only really exist on weekends to date. 

This will also allow Cheesekids to develop infrastructure necessary in rolling out our programmes and incubating fledgling cause-related projects of Cheesekids. 

These are just some of the things Cheesekids will attend to in the next year, believe me there is a lot more in store that we will unveil with time. 

So, in a nutshell, in 2012 we will expand the pool of members, seek to increase the frequency of their participation, through more programmes, customised projects and work events, as well as increase the impact of each member's interaction.

The Guardian team is looking forward to putting the above in place, and can hardly wait to getting to change the world with you, together, for the better.
