a reflection; in the aftermath of Gogo's passing
life. it's funny. its said that it ends when you figure out its meaning. It boggles the mind to think that it was an episode of "Jika MaJika" that gave my grandmother the final epiphany that would terminate her tenure here. It puts a new spin on "Killer show". It puts a new spin on "the elders" in my family. With her passing an entire generation now moves upwards, like an escalator. And we all come closer to our own inevitable end. And if any of us is able to be at peace as Gogo was in her final days then she should consider herself blessed. And if any of us has a love betrothed to them already in the afterlife, then she would be double blessed. And if any of us can inspire even as we expire, then it certainly was a life worth lived. It is for these 3 reasons amongst dozens more that I am happy for Gogo even as I am sad that I won't be seeing her face light up again. She has made so many of us want to be better and, better yet, learn to be better. She has taught us lessons in love, relationships, family, discipline, commitment.... the list is endless. And even as we struggle with these and other life's lessons, we can take heart knowing that the answers aren't elusive as we think; they're right there in a vuma at the end of a life well lived. I'm proud of gogo for shaping the then. like I am proud to be part of you go-go-getters that shape the now. And I look forward to the renewal that her life's example should inspire in us all. And that's why life's funny. There's so much more life when it's lost. Here's to the Albertina Sisulu in all of us; may she live forever...

Yeah, that is life. My condolences to you and your family. Know that your grandmother has (more than) served her purpose and it is up to you all to find inspiration in her life's work and use it as an engine to power your dreams.
