Youth Day, on Saturday, 16 June 2012, marks a very important day for every South African citizen, especially young people. To celebrate this important event, the City of Cape Town will host a two day (15 and 16 June) Youth in Action expo at the Zip Zap circus in the Artscape Gardens.

The expo will start at 10:00 and end at 17:00 on both days. Registration is required. Activities include exhibitions, workshops, talks, and performances by leading industry artists. The programme has been designed to give young people the opportunity to gain knowledge of various alternative fields of work, so that they can be motivated to contribute towards the well-being of the nation as a whole.

The programme will promote elements of development, transferral of skills, job creation, social cohesion and poverty alleviation. Sessions with young people showcasing different job fields in catering, fashion, make-up, the performing arts and how to start and sustain a business will form part of the event.

Local artists who will perform at the expo include:

Trenton & Radical, The Ruffest, Blackkurrant, Sekoati Tsubane and Zip Zap Circus
