Cheesekids Mandela Day Johannesburg

The Skinny: 

In Johannesburg we're holding our Mandela Day celebrations on Sunday 17th July 2011 (the day before Nelson Mandela Day) between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm.

You will be able to come to the Rally Point (InnesFree Park) and hop onto a bus shuttle going to anyone of 11 projects or simply stay at base and play with kids, teach them soccer, give blood or make food for our homeless soup kitchen.

We will be following all of this fun up with an After-Party concert with an incredible line-up including HHP, AKA, Jozi, Tidal Wave, Josie Fields, Nothende, Zebra & Giraffe and many more to match the awesome expanse of goodness the day will bring. Sounds like your cup of tea, well then simply register and join this event at no fee and let us put your 67 minutes to action the Cheesekids way! 

 

How it works: 

1) You Register to attend Cheesekids Mandela Day

2) You will receive emails and SMS notification of where to rendezvous (The Rally Point) on Sunday 17th July 2011. You can come to the Rally Point any time between 8:30am and 4:00pm, where you can catch a shuttle to one of 12 Projects offsite or simply stroll up to one of 3 onsite Projects we'll have.

3) At the Project Site you will be welcomed by a Cheesekids team leaders and Celebrity hosts who will give you directions on what you'll need to do for 67 minutes.

4) If you went to an Offsite Project, after 67 minutes you get back on the shuttle to return you to the Rally Point.

5) You will recieve free entry into the Green Circle of the After-Party there on the same day between 5.30pm and 9pm.

 

The Projects

We have 12 projects (3 Onsite at the Rally Point and 9 OffSite away from the Rally Point) which comprise the following activities

* Building houses for dwellers of informal settlements

* Painting, gardening and beautifying schools of underprivileged and disabled children

* Providing vocational guidance and inspirational chats with high school children

* A cook-out to make food to be distributed to homeless shelters 

* A kiddie-zone to play with and spoil children from various orphanages

* Planting vege-gardens at homeless shelters and orphanages

* A sports clinic to teach kiddies your sporting skills

Remember, all sites will be kept hush until the day for the integrity of our logistics. Please do register to keep your space, as spaces are limited

 

What to Bring?

You can bring anything you'd like to donate as we have a donation area available. 

 

Mandela Day Tees

Anyone registered and attending gets one of these gratis. Yup, thanks to our partner Old Mutual, u need simply show up, do great things for 67 minutes and bob's your uncle!

 

How to Register 

1) If you are an existing user then Login and skip to step 4. If not, then click Register to become part of the movement. If you are an existing user but have forgotten your password, then simply click on

2) Please fill in all of your details, tick the two check-boxes and click submit. If everything is right, an email will be sent to you (to the email address you provided).

3) Click on the link in the email and it will automatically log you in and take you to your user home page. You will know because the Big Blue Circle where the login was has changed to a menu with three items namely: myProfile, myBlogs and myEvents

4) Click on myEvents. A list of Cheesekids' upcoming events shows up. Go to Cheesekids Mandela Day Jo'burg. And click on "I will be attending this event".

Voila! You are now registered for Cheesekids Mandela Day 2011. You will recieve regular mail with updates as well as details of the Rally Points and Project Sites. It's That Easy.
