How is Cheesekids Structured?
Cheesekids is a broad-based volunteer movement. At its core is an administrative trust with 7 trustees and a core of ExCo Members collectively dubbed the CheeseGuardians. Cheesekids is registered as Non-Profit Organisation in South Africa (NPO 082-518).
There are currently 3 Chapters - Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, with chapters in Polokwane and East London soon to be launched. The purpose of these Chapters is to organise events and activity that will encourage young people in those areas to volunteer for community service or civic duty, to fundraise for social causes and to promote activism and environmentalism. The objective is make these activities and events as easy and as fun to join and participate in as possible.
Membership of this movement is simple. One registers here on the website (or joins a mailing list or Facebook Fan Page or follows our twitter account or joins one of our BBM groups etc). Periodically, they will receive notice of events and activites.
Upon attending one such event, they will becoming bona fide "Cheesekids".
Once a Cheesekid, ever a Cheesekid, regardless of how many events and activities one attends thereafter. Any member can organise or request the organisation of an event or activity in conjuction with the CheeseGuardians. Members can also invite all Cheesekids to join outreach programmes and activities under the auspices of Cheesekids events, as long as they have Guardian sanction.
